What’s Your Crypto Future?

FOMO Flipper

You’re getting by, but you’re one step away from a major security mistake. Your crypto is exposed to threats, and relying on basic protections puts you in danger. Without stronger security measures, your next trade could be your last. It's time to take action now.

So what should you do?

Step 1: Move Your Crypto to Self-Custody

  • Keeping crypto on an exchange is risky. Exchanges can get hacked, freeze withdrawals, or even go bankrupt.
  • Use a software wallet (like MetaMask, Trust Wallet, or Rabby Wallet) as your first step toward self-custody.

Step 2: Secure Your Accounts with 2FA

  • Activate two-factor authentication (2FA) on all crypto-related accounts.
  • Avoid SMS verification as SIM swap hacks are common, unless you have tools like Efani.

Step 3: Check If Your Email & Passwords Have Been Leaked

  • Hackers target weak passwords and leaked credentials.
  • Use Have I Been Pwned to check if your accounts are compromised.
  • Use a password manager (like Bitwarden or 1Password) and create unique, strong passwords.

Step 4: Revoke Dangerous Wallet Permissions

  • You may have unknowingly given dApps permission to spend all your tokens.
  • Check and remove risky approvals using apps such as Etherscan Token Approval Checker (Official Ethereum security tool).

Step 5: Install and Maintain Antivirus Software:

  • If you don’t have antivirus software installed, get one and ensure it stays up to date to guard against malware.

Step 6: Consider a Hardware Wallet

  • If you’re ready to bring to your crypto security to the highest level, and especially if you hold a large amount of crypto on a hot wallet (or worse, on an exchange) get a hardware wallet
  • Software wallets can be hacked via malware, keyloggers etc.
  • A hardware wallet stores your private keys offline, making it nearly impossible for hackers to access.

Step 7: Store Your Seed Phrase Securely

  • Never store it on your phone, computer, or cloud! If a hacker finds it, they can drain your wallet instantly.
  • Paper isn’s a great option either - it can burn, fade, or get lost. Upgrade to a metal backup for everlasting security.

Step 8: Stay Vigilant

  • Be cautious of phishing emails or websites pretending to be wallet providers or exchanges. Always double-check URLs and avoid clicking on suspicious links.
  • Never share your seed phrase. A reputable company will never ask for your seed phrase. If someone does, they’re almost certainly impersonating a trusted service or brand.
